LED High Bay Lighting Improves Visibility and Productivity at a Woodworking Factory (TENJIKOUSEI CO., LTD.)
Lighting Equipment
In April 2026, Stanley Electric's LED High Bay Lighting was installed at a newly established woodworking factory operated by TENJIKOUSEI Co., Ltd.
The factory, which began operations in January 2026, had previously relied on fluorescent and mercury-vapor lamps. Due to the high ceiling structure, the workspace suffered from insufficient brightness and uneven illumination. To improve visibility and create a more comfortable and productive working environment, the company introduced Stanley Electric's LED High Bay Lighting solution.

Tenji Kousei Co., Ltd. specializes in the planning, design, fabrication, installation, and operation support of exhibition booths, event spaces, and permanent displays. One of the company's strengths is its ability to manufacture custom wooden structures in-house, providing clients with a complete one-stop solution.
According to President Shu Taguchi, visibility has a direct impact on product quality in woodworking operations.
President Taguchi
Thank you for visiting our factory.
―
Thank you for having us.
We have had the pleasure of working with your company on exhibition booth projects in the past, and this time we were able to support you with your lighting upgrade. To begin, could you tell us about your business and the services you provide?
President Taguchi
Our company provides comprehensive services for exhibitions, events, and permanent display facilities, covering everything from planning, design, and engineering to fabrication, installation, and operational support.
One of our greatest strengths is our ability to manufacture wooden structures in-house, enabling us to offer complete one-stop solutions tailored to our customers’ needs. We handle projects both in Japan and overseas. For example, we are involved in the construction and installation of the Japan Pavilion at a large-scale trade exhibition in Beijing, China, where approximately 60 Japanese manufacturers participate.
President Taguchi
Yes, this facility is our woodworking factory.
The factory was newly established in January 2026. Because of its high ceilings, the existing lighting consisted only of fluorescent and mercury-vapor lamps, and the overall environment felt rather dim. We recognized that improvements were necessary.
Woodworking requires precision down to the millimeter, and sufficient brightness is essential when inspecting finished products. In some areas, illuminance levels ranged from only about 130 to 180 lx, resulting in inconsistent visibility and reduced work efficiency.
In addition, as our workforce continues to age, ensuring good visibility has become an increasingly important issue. To maintain product quality, we needed to create a work environment where employees could clearly see what they were doing.
―
I see. That’s a factor that directly affects work precision.
What changes have you noticed since installing the new lighting?
President Taguchi
Since the installation, we have achieved approximately 1,000 lx throughout the workspace, which has significantly improved the working environment.
One of the biggest improvements is the reduction of uneven lighting. With fewer shadows being cast, visibility at the workbench has improved considerably, leading to greater accuracy during finishing processes.
We have received positive feedback from employees, with many saying that detailed tasks are much easier to perform. Drawings and blueprints are also easier to read, which has contributed to improved productivity and workflow efficiency.
Overall, I feel we have created an environment that better supports our manufacturing operations.
ー
So the improvement extends beyond brightness itself and includes the quality of the lighting. What factors influenced your decision to select this lighting solution?
President Taguchi
We had already been familiar with Stanley Electric through our work together on exhibition projects, so we had confidence in the company and its products.
During the planning stage, your team provided several illuminance simulation proposals, allowing us to compare different fixture layouts and quantities in advance. Being able to evaluate multiple options based on our actual operating conditions was extremely valuable and played an important role in our decision-making process.
―
Thank you. How was the installation process?
President Taguchi
We hired an external contractor to carry out the installation, and I was told that the fixtures were lightweight and easy to handle, which helped the work proceed smoothly.
Because the luminaires have built-in power supplies, the wiring process was relatively simple, reducing the overall installation workload.
With more women and senior technicians entering the construction industry, I believe these ease-of-installation features offer significant advantages.
―
So you’ve personally experienced how lightweight and easy to install they are.
Stanley Electric’s high bay lighting features a lightweight aluminum design, which appears to contribute to ease of handling on-site. Finally, could you tell us what you value most in your daily work?
President Taguchi
Earlier in my career, I worked on-site myself. Today, my role is primarily focused on management.
Because of that experience, I place great importance on creating a workplace where employees can work comfortably and take ownership of their responsibilities from start to finish. I want our team members to feel a sense of pride and fulfillment in their work.
As for our customers, meeting quality standards, delivery schedules, and project requirements is essential, but I believe communication is equally important. By listening carefully to our customers and understanding their needs, we strive to deliver high-quality products and services through a seamless one-stop process.
―
So you really value “people,” whether they’re employees or customers.
Creating an environment that minimizes the physical strain of work is also a key priority, and I felt that the installation of this lighting system is part of that effort. Thank you very much for sharing your insights with us today.
① Mr. Tanaka (left in photo)
Factory Manager responsible for woodworking operations and quality control
"Since the lighting upgrade, it has become much easier to identify fine surface irregularities and subtle imperfections in our work.
Previously, visibility varied depending on where we were working, but now the lighting is consistent throughout the factory, allowing us to inspect products reliably from any location. Drawings are also easier to read, and I feel less strain when performing detailed tasks.
During the winter months, daylight fades early and visibility used to become an issue at certain times of day. Now, those concerns have virtually disappeared. It's especially helpful that the working environment remains consistent even during evening and night shifts."
② Mr. Kagoshima (right in photo)
Designer responsible for translating customer requirements into designs and technical drawings
"We have worked with Stanley Electric on exhibition booth projects for many years, and I had been interested in their high bay lighting products for some time.
After using them, I can say that both the brightness and ease of handling have lived up to my expectations. The fixtures are easy to install and practical to work with, making them very user-friendly for on-site applications."
