Basic Approach
Aiming for the sustainable development of society and business, the Group provides products considered necessary by society with our business base in manufacturing. We also have enacted our Basic Environmental Philosophy, Environmental Proclamation, and Environmental Policies, and are pursuing measures to protect the global environment.
Basic Environmental Philosophy
Stanley Group will strive to "create new values in harmony with the environment" through all our corporate activities by reducing the environmental impact to a bare minimum, so that we can pass on the immeasurably rich blessings of our earth and its ecosystem to the next generation in a healthy state.
Environmental Proclamation
We, Stanley, strive to become an earth friendly corporation by practicing the 'non-use, non-emission and non-disposing'of environmentally harmful substances.
Environmental Policies
Guided by our Basic Environmental Philosophy, we position environmental management as a key element of our business activities, which center on automotive devices, components, and applied electronics products, and strive to conduct these activities in harmony with environmental protection.
- Throughout the entire life cycle of Stanley Group activities, products, and services, from planning and design through procurement, manufacturing, logistics, use, and disposal, we set environmental targets and promote environmental protection initiatives, including pollution prevention, measures to address climate change, and the sustainable use of resources.
- We comply with environmental laws and regulations in each country and region, as well as other compliance obligations to which the Stanley Group subscribes. Where necessary, we establish voluntary standards and manage our activities appropriately.
- To improve our environmental performance, we operate our Environmental Management System effectively and continually improve it.
- Through environmental education and communication, we ensure that all employees and everyone working for the Stanley Group are familiar with our Basic Environmental Philosophy and Environmental Policies, foster an understanding of how their work relates to the environment, and promote environmental protection initiatives. We also communicate these policies to our business partners and ask for their understanding and cooperation.
- We make our Basic Environmental Philosophy and Environmental Policies publicly available. We also appropriately disclose information on the status of our environmental protection activities in response to external requests and communicate with our stakeholders.
- In cooperation with government agencies, local communities, and relevant organizations, we actively participate in environmental protection activities in the communities where we operate.
Environmental Management Structure
With the Representative Director, President having ultimate responsibility, we have established an Environmental Management Structure and a Carbon Neutrality Promotion Structure under the respective directors in charge. The Quality Management Department oversees the Environmental Management Structure, while the Sustainability Department oversees the Carbon Neutrality Promotion Structure. To provide Group-wide oversight, we have also established the Global Environment Conservation Activity Committee and the Global Carbon Neutral Promotion Committee, through which our Group companies in Japan and overseas work together to address environmental issues.
In addition, to promote environmental management, we continually obtain and maintain third-party certification in accordance with the ISO 14001 international standard and have established and operate an Environmental Management System (EMS).
Organizational Structure
Initiatives of the Global Environment Conservation Activity Committee
The Committee promotes environmental protection activities by deliberating and making decisions on all aspects of environmental management, including analyzing risks and opportunities across the Group, formulating and implementing environmental strategies, reviewing environmental performance, and recognizing employees for their environmental initiatives.

Initiatives of the Global Carbon Neutral Promotion Committee
The Committee evaluates and manages the progress of our action plan for achieving carbon neutrality, updates our strategies to reflect our Group’s CO2 emissions reductions and industry and customer trends, formulates investment plans, and promotes these to companywide activities.

Environmental Management System (EMS)
To promote environmental management, the Group has established an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on the ISO 14001 international standard. At our production bases worldwide, we undergo annual surveillance audits and recertification audits every three years by third-party certification bodies. We maintain ISO 14001 certification at 6 domestic production bases and 10 domestic non-production bases operated directly by Stanley Electric, 3 bases operated by domestic affiliated companies, and 18 production bases operated by overseas affiliated companies across 10 countries. In Japan, we have also obtained integrated certification to streamline EMS operations. In the future, we will continue to pursue environmental protection across the Group in accordance with our Environmental Policies, aiming for the sustainable development of both society and the Group.
