Corporate
Stanley Electric Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yasuaki Kaizumi) has announced that its new UV coating technology, ASTUV*, has been adopted for the first time in mass production for headlamps used in multiple Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Iwata, Shizuoka; President and Representative Director: Motofumi Shitara) vehicle models.
The technology is applied to Yamaha Motor’s all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) Grizzly and Wolverine, as well as the UMAX golf cart, all sold* in the U.S. market.
* Sales of vehicles equipped with ASTUV-applied headlamps are scheduled to begin in mid-2026.
*ASTUV=All + Surface Treatment (STanley)+UV(Ultraviolet)
ASTUV is an industry-first technology that combines UV-curable coatings with UV irradiation in the anti-fog coating process for automotive lamps. By eliminating conventional hot air drying, ASTUV significantly reduces energy consumption while improving product quality, including preventing water drip marks inside lamp lenses.
As the automotive industry accelerates efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions across manufacturing processes, Stanley Electric continues to promote energy-efficient production technologies. Through innovations such as ASTUV, the company aims to support carbon neutrality while meeting customer quality requirements.
